Presented by the Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department (HKACED) and SF&OC Sports Legacy Company Limited (SLCL) of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), and with the venues sponsored by Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Citywalk and Olympian City of the Sino Group, and supported by and Yau Tsim Mong District Office, the commendation ceremony of the Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department Annual Event has been held successfully.
The Annual Event was held from February 29 to March 4, from March 6 to 11 and from March 13 to 17 at Main Atrium, Phase 1, Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Atrium, Phase 1, Citywalk and the Event Hall of Olympian City 2 respectively. The event aims to keep the sports fever alive and allow the public to meet Hong Kong athletes and to know more about their strongest supporter- the HKACED team, so as to encourage the public to continue support and participate in sports activities, and develop their passion for sports.
Mr. Timothy FOK GBM, GBS, JP, President of SF&OC, Mrs. Gunilla LINDBERG, Secretary General of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Prof. Herman HU, GBS, JP, Chairman of HKACED Committee, Dr. David MONG, Vice-president of SF&OC, Mr. Edward YU, JP, District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), Hon Vincent CHENG Wing-shun, MH, JP, Hon Kenneth LEUNG Yuk-wai, JP, members of the Legislative Council, Mr. CHENG Ka-ho, MH, JP, HKACED Committee member and event Chairperson, and Ms. Andrea LEUNG, Group General Manager (Marketing) of Sino Group, attended the commendation ceremony of the Annual Event at Olympian City.
Mr. FOK said, “It is the year for Paris Olympic Games, and with the National Games which will be cohosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau next year, mega sports events are piling up, we hereby invite everyone to support our athletes, get involved in sports events and devote our support for the Hong Kong, China Delegation.”
Prof. HU said, “The 70 coaches, athletes from Hong Kong, China Delegation, of Sports Legacy have been inspiring and connecting students through sports at 20 participating primary schools of the Youth Olympian Programme, which promote sports and Olympic values to a total of more than 3,000 students and parents.”
“Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department Annual Event” recorded participation of thousands of citizens as they experienced the colorful activities, including the five sports experience areas that challenged participants’ speed, reflex, agility, strength, skills, vision, balance, and concentration. Game challengers were also able to redeem gifts upon completion of the tasks. A long list of participating athletes includes cyclist Mr. WONG Kam-po, karate athlete Mr. LEE Chun-ho, wushu athlete Ms. Juanita MOK Uen-ying, rugby player Mr. Salom YIU Kam-shing, gymnast Mr. Kelvin NG Kiu-chung, basketball player Mr. TSOI Lung-tak, sports climber Mr. Nathan YAU Ka-chun, as well as the likes of taekwondo athletes Mr. KWAN Wai-lam, Ms. Angel JIM Kong-yim, and Mr. Liam KO Chung-hon, had different forms of support for the event, such as sports demonstration, sharing and playing sports with the other participants.
