
Dalton School Hong Kong (DSHK) is a vibrant, non-profit international school delivering progressive, child-centered education based on the renowned Dalton Plan. As we continue to grow our secondary programs, we are seeking a passionate, experienced, and visionary PE Teacher to lead and elevate our athletics and physical education offerings for secondary students.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and oversee the full-year whole-school athletic program, including league events, inter-school competitions, school-based activities, practices, and all related travel arrangements.
Provide visionary supervision and leadership for the athletics programs to ensure high-quality outcomes, efficient service delivery, and alignment with the school's progressive educational philosophy.
Act as first-line intervention for coaches, student-athletes, parents, and spectators—promoting, encouraging, and instructing in principles of good sportsmanship, respect, and positive behavior.
Deliver orientation, ongoing direction, training, and rules interpretation to coaches to maintain full compliance with game rules, league regulations, and best practices.
Champion the safeguarding and well-being of students and vulnerable adults, while upholding exemplary health and safety standards that meet or exceed all legal and school requirements.
Handle key administrative duties, including developing athletics policies, managing equipment and gear inventory, coordinating practice and competition schedules, arranging first-aid support, and maintaining accurate records.
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Education, Sports Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field; teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred.
Proven experience teaching PE and/or coaching at the secondary level in an international or bilingual school setting.
Strong familiarity with Hong Kong local inter-school competitions and leagues (e.g., HKSSF, school sports associations, or equivalent regional/international events).
Excellent bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) to effectively communicate with students, parents, coaches, and the wider school community.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop coaches and student-athletes while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving sports culture.
Commitment to student safeguarding, child protection, and promoting holistic well-being.
First-aid certification (or willingness to obtain promptly) and knowledge of health/safety best practices in sports environments.
Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills; experience managing schedules, travel logistics, and equipment is highly desirable.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience in a progressive or inquiry-based educational environment (e.g., Dalton Plan, IB, or similar).
Coaching credentials or success in specific sports relevant to Hong Kong inter-school scenes (e.g., basketball, soccer, table tennis, athletics, lacrosse, badminton).
